More than 500 Compete In Freeze Your Gizzard Run

Hundreds of runners braved Saturday morning’s chill to run through the rolling hills at Ida Lee Park–all while helping feed Loudoun’s families in need.

The Freeze Your Gizzard Race, sponsored by Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department and Loudoun Interfaith Relief, is in its 11th year. The event helped fill Loudoun Interfaith Relief’s food pantry, just in time for the holidays.

More than 500 raced in the 5K and hundreds more joined in the 1-mile fun run.

Eighteen-year-old Fitsum Seyoum won the 5K, posting a time of 15:13. Ashley Harper, 33, of Leesburg, was the top female finisher, completing the course in 19:30.

You can view the full results here.

Each winner received a hefty frozen turkey, donated by Harris Teeter.
