Leesburg Synagogue Welcomes New Rabbi

Congregation Sha’are Shalom in Leesburg held a service and ceremony Sunday to formally install Rabbi David Greenspoon as its new religious leader.

Greenspoon is a former enlisted U.S. Navy veteran and Reserve chaplain. He has taught middle and high school and has been a leader in rabbinic and interfaith clergy organizations.

Rabbi David GreenspoonThe synagogue’s Transition Committee co-chair Jill Weiss said Greenspoon’s installation marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the congregation.

“His enthusiasm, compassion and desire to make a positive contribution to our congregation and the greater community make him an inspirational leader,” she wrote in an email. “We feel blessed to have him join our congregation.”

In 2004, Congregation Sha’are Shalom constructed Loudoun County’s first synagogue. It is located at 19357 Evergreen Mills Road. Learn more at shaareshalomleesburg.org.
