Following the success of last year’s Ugly Christmas Sweaters promotion, Re-Love It consignment store owners Michael Oaks and Kim Patterson are preparing for another rush.
The husband-and-wife duo claims to having “amassed possibly the largest selection of Ugly Christmas sweaters for sale at one location in the entire Washington, DC, metropolitan area.” Oaks said he began buying sweaters all year long to make sure he had enough to meet the demand from those seeking to snag the ugliest sweater they can find to wear at holiday parties.
So far, Oaks and Patterson have sold hundreds of ugly sweaters since the first week of November, and hope for record sales by the end of the year. With the ugly sweater fad in full swing across the nation, Dec. 12 has been named “Ugly Christmas Sweater Day.”
Oaks and Patterson have been asked to do a segment on Fox Five’s Good Day show on Dec. 9 when they’ll share ideas on “how to make your ugly Christmas sweater even uglier,” Oaks said.
The consignment shop, at 138 N. 21st St. in Purcellville, was named the 2014 Retail Business of the Year by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. Hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
