Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop is open at in Ashburn and plans a number of special events to celebrate the opening of the new store.
“We are very excited to share the hobby of backyard bird feeding with the residents of Ashburn and greater Loudoun County,” owner Sherri Barlett said. “This hobby is second only in popularity to gardening and is enjoyed by over 53 million Americans.”
Grand opening events for the store, located at 44110 Ashburn Shopping Plaza Unit 174, will be held Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 and include nature presentations, prize drawings, refreshments, give-a-ways, and product demonstrations.
On Saturday, Dec. 19, Kent Knowles of Raptor Conservancy of Virginia will offer live raptor presentations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Free bird feeder starter kits will be given to all customers while supplies last. Also, the store will offer a feeder swap; those bringing in old feeder will get a 20 percent discount on a new feeder. Salvageable, traded-in feeders will then be cleaned, sanitized and donated. Drawings will be held for free bird seed for a year, a feeder station, and more.
The store will be collecting food donations for Loudoun Interfaith Relief. A portion of sales will go to Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy.
Wild Birds Unlimited carries a variety of seeds and seed blends that have been specially formulated to attract birds in this region. The seed blends are mixtures of seeds and nuts and will be delivered fresh each week
