The Leesburg Economic Development Office will hold a HUBZone hiring event Thursday, Dec. 10, at the Ida Lee Recreation Center.
“This is the perfect opportunity for people who live in the HUBZone and are looking for jobs to meet over 20 great HUBZone companies that are hiring,” Kindra Jackson, Leesburg’s business development manager, said.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has designated a swath of land between King Street and the Leesburg Bypass as a historically underutilized business area, giving businesses there a leg up in the competition for federal contracts. HUBZone companies must hire 35 percent of their employees from a HUBZone as part of the program requirements.
Available jobs include entry level office assistant, entry level finance, various computer-related positions, construction, labor, and other trades. The wages range from $10 to $18 per hour. No previous experience or degree is required and most companies are willing to train.
The hiring event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The recreation center is located at 60 Ida Lee Drive.
