Anne Crossman, the president of Vertical Jobs in Leesburg, testified in front of the House of Representatives Committee on Small Businesses last month.
Representing Women Impacting Public Policy, Crossman spoke on the challenges facing small contractors, including the structuring of subcontracting relationships, accuracy and transparency of reporting on small business contracts and subcontracts in federal databases, and accurate classification of small businesses.
“The opportunity to testify before Congress let me hear first-hand of their support for small business, specifically in finding ways to increase small business participation in the federal marketplace,” Crossman said.
Other small business owners testified during the Nov. 18 hearing that they have the same worries, Crossman said, about competing against businesses that represent themselves as small, but no longer qualify due to recent contract wins or affiliation.
