Fresh off elections that saw the party reclaim three Board of Supervisors seats after a 2011 election shutout, the Loudoun County Democratic Committee is preparing to elect new members and leaders.
The party’s unassembled caucus will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Leesburg Fire Hall at 215 W. Loudoun St.
The reorganization is required every two years. Members will be elected to serve in 2016 and 2017. The caucus will elect one member from each of Loudoun’s 93 voting precincts and up to 93 at-large members.
Those wishing to join the committee are required to file a Declaration of Candidacy no later than 7 p.m. Jan. 2, 2016. The forms can be obtained online at loudoundemocrats.org/membership. The committee’s annual administrative fee is $35.
Doors to the Jan. 9 caucus will open at 10 a.m. Those wishing to participate will be required to sign a Democrat loyalty pledge. The caucus will begin at 11 a.m.
After members are elected, the newly formed committee will elect new officers.
