The year’s final day of food distribution at Loudoun Interfaith Relief was a festive occasion, with Santa pitching in to help volunteers and surprise children with gifts of toys.
The 80 families coming to the Leesburg food pantry today left with a four-day supply of food, including a turkey.
Santa invited children to a room stacked with donated toys and gifts. This morning, Executive Director Jenifer Montgomery said, two “anonymous merry-makers” dropped off three children’s bikes and those unexpected gift went home with three surprised kids.
The pantry will be closed until Jan. 4, but Montgomery said that, in addition to providing clients with an extra day of food, supplies have been distributed to other area agencies to help out if emergency cases arise.
