The Step Sisters, a Loudoun-based nonprofit that provides support to breast cancer patients, has received a $5,000 grant from TEGNA Foundation/WUSA 9.
The money will be used to purchase transportation services such as taxi vouchers and gasoline gift cards for patients in Loudoun and Fairfax counties, which has been identified as a sorely needed service during treatment.
“We believe that no woman should delay treatment, simply because she lacks transportation,” Angela Fuentes, president of The Step Sisters, stated. “We are thankful to TEGNA Foundation for their support as we expand throughout Northern Virginia, reaching as many patients as possible.”
The organization holds several fundraising events during the year, the largest of which is the Ribbon Run attracting about 2,000 participants to Brambleton.
