The council last year tapped Notar to replace former town attorney Jeanette Irby following her selection as Loudoun County Circuit Court judge. Notar had served as Leesburg’s deputy town attorney for almost seven years prior to her promotion.

At last week’s Town Council meeting, council members voted 4-2 to give Notar a 3 percent raise. Notar’s initial salary was $135,000. Council members Tom Dunn and Suzanne Fox voted against the raise. Dunn said he felt “that the town’s legal positions could be better served.”
