Dunn, Hammler Appointed To Law Enforcement Committee

Council members Tom Dunn and Katie Hammler have been appointed to serve on the new joint town/county committee that will identify efficiencies that could be achieved between the Leesburg Police Department and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The Town Council also voted on a list of topics they want to discuss with county representatives, including possibly sharing office space; allowing town police officers access to a planned county firing range; and funding for School Resource Officers.

In addition to Dunn and Hammler, the committee will be comprised of two members of the county Board of Supervisors, the Leesburg Police Chief, the Loudoun County Sheriff and one designee each from town and county government staffs.

Let’s hope the BOS does not appoint that worthless Umstattd to anything.

It seems pretty clear that the Leesburg Town Council is not serious about this committee effort, since they picked two of the most incompetent members of the Leesburg Town Council. And it is interesting, don’t you think, that they picked two who are up for re-election this year. Posturing, over effectiveness is not very becoming.
