Area arts organizations have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to apply for funding through the Purcellville Arts Council. Money is available to support arts activities planned in Purcellville between July 1 through June 30, 2017.
The town will apply for up to $5,000 from the Virginia Commission for the Arts’ Local Government Challenge Grant Program and provide the match from local funds. A total of $10,000 will be distributed among independent arts organizations to support activities in town.
Interested arts groups should send a letter requesting funds to the Purcellville Arts Council, outlining a program budget, the arts activity to be funded and the audiences(s) to be served, along with a description of the organization. Letters must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 23.
To be eligible, organizations must have a primary purpose in the arts—production, presentation or support of dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theater or visual or related arts. Also, they must be incorporated in Virginia and have their headquarters and home seasons, (or equivalent) in the state.
Funding will not be provided for payment to performers for specific performances. The deadline for the town to apply for the Local Government Challenge Grant is April 1.
Letters should be addressed to: Purcellville Arts Committee, Attn: Local Government Challenge Grant, 221 S. Nursery Ave., Purcellville, VA 20132, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or dropped off at Town Hall.
