High Winds Cut Off Power to Thousands in Loudoun

Thousands of homes are without power this morning after last night’s strong winds.

Dominion Power is reporting that 2,292 customers in Loudoun do not have power, out of about 111,400 served in the county. Throughout Northern Virginia, more than 15,000 customers did not have electricity, as of 9 a.m. today.

Wind gusts throughout the region reportedly reached 55-65 mph, the largest severe wind event since the derecho on June 29, 2012.
