Letter: Pamela Keegan, Brambleton

Editor: As a resident and member of the Brambleton HOA Covenants Committee, I was happy to hear that Congresswoman Barbara Comstock has officially cosponsored H.R. 4696, the Helping Our Middle-Income Earners (HOME) Act.

If passed, this piece of legislation will allow homeowners living in Brambleton and HOAs throughout America who earn $115,000 or less in annual income to deduct up to $5,000 of their yearly HOA fees from their federal taxes. As we all know, every cent counts when living in Northern Virginia and this simple and smart tax legislation will help many people right here in own community of Brambleton.

I thank my friend and Supervisor Tony Buffington and Congresswoman Barbara Comstock for listening and responding to our HOA’s request for their leadership and support on this legislation.

Pamela and Barbara, are you kidding me? This is a complete handout. I live in Lansdowne and our HOA fees are probably set up in a similiar manner. The cable, phone and internet were centralized for the community and increased the HOA fee by $150/month. Thus, our fees of approximately $3600/year would receive a subsidy in federal taxes because Comstock is advocating for special interests?!

Ron Meyer, Matt Letourneau, Ralph Buona and Geary Higgins should all denounce this largesse. This is completely contrary to everything that a conservative (“classical liberal”) supports. Barbara clearly represents the establishment and is willing to give away as much pork as she possibly can. When we face $18T in official debt, and over $60T in total debt (including SS/Medicare liabilities), there is no possible justification for this give-away. Or maybe you should venture over to freeloadersRus.com to get some more handouts.
