Police response to an apparent stabbing at a home near Blue Ridge Middle School in Purcellville forced a delayed dismissal this afternoon.
At about 3:20 p.m., students and staff members were not allowed to leave the school. The “lock out” was lifted shortly after 4 p.m., according to a letter emailed to Blue Ridge Middle School parents. The incident also delayed dismissal at Loudoun Valley High School, according to the school system’s Public Information Officer Wayde Byard.
Purcellville Police Department responded to the scene for a report of a domestic-related stabbing on Canterbury Circle. An adult male apparently stabbed another adult male,according to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kraig Troxell. The victim was flown to a hospital for treatment. The helicopter landed in a field near Purcellville Baptist Church.
The suspect fled the scene and was apprehended by an off-duty law enforcement officer in Purcellville, Troxell said.
