The son of Purcellville Baptist Church Pastor David L. Janney has been charged with stabbing his father Monday.
Jonathan A. Janney, 19, faces charges of aggravated malicious wounding, according to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
Jonathan is David L. Janney’s middle child, according to a bio on the church’s website.
David L. Janney is expected to fully recover, the sheriff’s office reported.
He was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital Monday for treatment after reportedly being stabbed at his home on Canterbury Circle in Purcellville about 3:15 p.m., according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The Purcellville Police Department and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The suspect fled and was apprehended by an off-duty law enforcement officer in the town.
A statement signed by Purcellville Baptist Church pastors and elders asked for prayers for the Janney family.
“Praise the Lord he is stable and receiving great care in the ICU,” it stated.
According to Janney’s bio on the church website, he and his wife have three children. He grew up in Harrisburg, PA, and in South Jersey. He served as a pastor at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Fairfax for five years before becoming senior pastor of Purcellville Baptist, a position he’s held since 1995.
