Just how much Loudoun County is considered a political battleground will be on display tomorrow, when the two campaigns of the presidential front runners converge in Leesburg.
Actor, director, and producer Tony Goldwyn will be in town campaigning for Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton. Goldwyn, best known for his TV role as President Fitzgerald Grant on ABC’s “Scandal,” will meet with women and families tomorrow afternoon at restaurant Chimole, at 10 S. King St.
“Goldwyn will emphasize Clinton’s lifelong record of delivering results for women and families and how, as president, she would fight for equal pay, paid leave and other policies that build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” a press release announcing his visit stated.
Goldwyn will be joined by Democratic LuAnn Bennett, who’s challenging Rep. Barbara Comstock in the 10th Congressional District race.
A block away, campaign leaders for Republican Donald Trump will gather for a “Unity Rally” at The Cajun Experience, at 14 Loudoun St. SE. That event, sponsored by super PAC Americans Liberty and Free Enterprise, is described in a press release from Loudoun County Republican Committee as an opportunity to “unite Loudoun County and make America great again!”
Speakers include Kenn Blachard, president of Americans Liberty and Free Enterprise and author of “Black Man with a Gun;” Bryan Crosswhite, executive vice president of Americans Liberty and Free Enterprise; Juli Haller, with the Trump campaign; and Will Estrada, chairman of the Loudoun County Republican Committee.
It is open to the public and will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.
