Proclamation Recognizing July 2016 as Love Loudoun Month

WHEREAS, the residents of Loudoun County stand in solidarity with the victims of the Orlando, Florida terrorist attack; and

WHEREAS, this terrorist attack was based on hatred, attacking American freedom and diversity; and

WHEREAS, this terrorist attack sought to divide Americans and the world against each other; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County is home to citizens of all faiths, ethnic origins, and members of the LGBT community; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County’s diversity helps make the County one of the best places to live, work and play in America; and

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors takes pride in all of its citizens and the unity of our community; and

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors recognizes all communities’ rights to equality and justice under the law; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County includes countless communities who have faced vicious hatred, unfair discrimination, or disproportionate economic hardship; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County’s diversity is so rich we could honor a different group of extraordinary citizens each day; and

WHEREAS, these diverse communities love Loudoun County as their home and this bond warrants recognition; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors proclaim July as Love Loudoun Month, affirms that all are welcome in Loudoun County, and urges all residents to love and respect our diverse community and celebrate and build a culture of opportunity for all to live in peace and prosperity.
