Campbell Calls for Police Prayer Vigil Tonight.

Leesburg Town Council candidate Ron Campbell is asking residents of all faiths to gather at the town green Monday evening to show support for police officers.

“As a community, it has never been more important to show our love and respect for those law enforcement officers who place their lives on the line every day. Their families understand the risk inherent in their jobs but pray each day that they come home safe,” Campbell said.

He said Monday’s event would not be a candlelight event and would not involve any political participation. It builds on the prayer vigil held July 8 following the fatal ambush of police officers in Dallas and a Community Building Bridges forum on Friday that was hosted by Apostle Shawn Stephens and Ignite Church International of Leesburg.

“I am asking all faith leaders of all religious denominations to please join us. We stand stronger as a community when we are willing to publicly show the type of community we are,” Campbell said.

The program is planned from 6 to 7 p.m. The town green is located at 20 W. Market St.
