The Washington Redskins and Inova announce this week a new multi-year partnership to promote health and wellness initiatives around the region.
The deal includes plans to rename the team’s Ashburn practice facility as the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park.
The new partnership expands a program begun in 2014 to provide fans access to the team’s trainers and physicians. Planned are health and wellness articles and videos and the creation of a 30-minute weekly radio sports medicine talk show “Ask the Doctor presented by Inova” on SportsTalk 570. Additional programming will include Inova Sports Medicine-Redskins Medical Minute on ESPN980, a podcast library of sports and general medicine information, and “Find a Doctor” program to help our fans connect with Inova’s doctors, services and programs.
In addition, both organizations will work to design new programs that will help improve the overall health of the community, including concussion base-line testing for elementary, high school and college athletes, breast cancer awareness programs and more.
“Inova is proud to partner with the Washington Redskins and support our hometown team with the establishment of the Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park,” Dr. Loring Flint, Inova executive vice president and chief medical officer, stated. “Whether you are a star athlete, a parent of an active child or a weekend sports enthusiast, Inova Sports Medicine is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of everyone in our community.”
