Community Launches Fundraising Effort for Lansdowne Family

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise money for the family whose 5-month-old boy was killed along Riverside Parkway in Lansdowne on Wednesday.

The fundraising page was launched this morning and has already brought in more than $23,000, with the initial goal of raising $25,000. This afternoon, the page’s creator upped the goal to $50,000. Visit the page here.

The baby boy was in a stroller being pushed by his mother in the crosswalk at Riverside Parkway and Kipheart Drive Wednesday morning when a Jeep Grand Cherokee drove into them, according to a preliminary investigation. The mother was severely injured; the Sherrif’s Office today said she is in stable condition.

The driver of the Jeep was an adult male. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said the factors that led to the cause of the mother and child being struck remain under investigation. The results of the investigation will be reviewed with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney to determine any possible charges.
