Feds Approve Gas Line to Serve Panda Power Plant

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week granted a certificate for Dominion Transmission Inc.’s Leidy South Project, a new natural gas pipeline that will serve the Panda Stonewall power plant south of Leesburg.

The line will transport gas from the Leidy Interconnect in Clinton, PA, to points in Loudoun County. The $209.66 million project includes modifications to six existing DTI compressor stations in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia, and the construction of a metering and regulating station in Virginia.

The Panda Stonewall plant is expected to open in 2017 and will generate up to 778 megawatts of electricity, enough to supply 778,000 homes in the region.
