Ashburn’s Got Talent Competition Opens Thursday

Starting next week, Loudoun’s most talented performers can face off in a friendly competition to hone their craft, win an invitation to the Broadlands Live stage, and support two good community causes.

One year after opening their Blend Coffee Bar in the Broadlands, Tracey Powell and Mimi Backhausen are launching Ashburn’s Got Talent, a music competition for performers ages 13 and older. Musical and vocal acts of up to two performers may enter. The competition is not limited to Ashburn artists. Powell and Backhausen have lined up a panel of well-known area musicians and instructors to serve as judges and offer feedback to each performer.

The top prize is $500 and an opportunity to perform on the Broadlands Live stage during next summer’s community concert series.

Auditions begin next week and performances continue through the Oct. 22 finale. The $30 entry fee will be donated to Friends of Loudoun Mental Health and Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers.

Organizers are scheduling up to 20 performers per audition session, to be held Sept. 15, 17 and 22. Top performers will face off in the semi-final Oct. 8, before a winner is selected Oct. 22. Audition spots are filling up. To reserve an audition time, click here.

Judges will be Linda Cirba, Chris Grimes, Tracy Hamlin, Leslie Hollander, John Kocur, Alex Minton, Don Perriello, Shannon Rivera, Teri Walker, and Todd Wright.
