One Loudoun welcomed another new restaurant this week when Copperwood Tavern opened its second location in the Ashburn development Wednesday.
Copperwood Tavern, a self-described farm-to-table restaurant, works with farms and producers in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania to source produce, meats, and fresh seafood. Along with house-made cocktail syrups, the bar program also boasts an extensive beer and wine list that includes some local favorites.
Reese Garner opened his first Copperwood Tavern location in Arlington. The One Loudoun location is slightly bigger with more outdoor seating.
In a press release, Garner said he was inspired to open Copperwood Tavern by a favorite cabin spot that he and his dog would frequent. “Prior to our trips, we would load up my truck with great food, beer and wine to enjoy with friends. I always felt that if I could somehow recreate the cozy cabin feel with home style cooking, people would enjoy it as much as I did,” he stated.
The restaurant’s staff includes Northern Virginia-born Executive Chef James Duke; Bar Manager Jody Hessler, who comes with 23 years of experience; and Executive Pastry Chef Brandon Blomquist, who’s refined his skills at Tout de Sweet Patisserie in Bethesda, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC, and has cooked at the White House.
Copperwood Tavern is at 20465 Exchange St. in Ashburn. Learn more at copperwoodtavern.com.
