Clown Threats Dismissed by Loudoun Authorities

Efforts to extend the national creepy clown scare to Loudoun County fizzled Tuesday, when the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and school administration dismissed threatening social media postings as non-credible.

Still, as a precaution the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting directed patrol near some schools and school resource officers stationed at middle and high schools are on alert.

The social media messages which were directed at specific Loudoun schools come on the heels of similar postings around the county about people dressed as clowns and threats of violence.

Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 703-777-1021.

Also, the Sheriff’s Office notes that it is illegal for any person over 16 years of age to where a mask in public except during Halloween and a few other exceptions.
