The Virginia Health Care Foundation has awarded $43,657 to Northern Virginia Family Service to hire a medication assistance caseworker at HealthWorks Northern Virginia to help obtain prescription medicines for uninsured patients.
The grant is a portion of $1.6 million awarded to 37 organizations throughout Virginia as part of VHCF’s RxRelief Virginia initiative, which was expanded in 2016 with an increase in state funds. It now funds 51 MACs in 80 of Virginia’s 134 localities.
The Virginia Health Care Foundation is a nonprofit public/private partnership whose mission is to increase access to primary health care for uninsured and medically underserved Virginians. The Foundation was initiated by the General Assembly and its Joint Commission on Health Care in 1992.
