Rotary Raffle Winner Gives Back

The Leesburg Daybreak Rotary Club on Tuesday presented David McFarland with the $5,000 prize he won in the organization’s 10th annual Pig Roast reverse raffle. But he gave a lot of it back.

McFarland bought 10 tickets to the pig roast, but gave his seats to five veterans from the Boulder Crest Retreat in Bluemont and their families.

On Tuesday, he gave away some of his winnings, as well. He gave $500 each to three families in attendance and gave the Leesburg Daybreak Rotary Club $1,500 to support its charity efforts, including providing grants to nonprofits, aid to Haiti, water projects in Africa, and student scholarships.
