Our beautiful Bonnie Jean passed away on October 24, 2016.
She was born in Florida in 1957 and grew up in Houston, Texas, attending Spring High School and later Baylor University in Waco. She graduated in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in German and a minor in Music.
Her early career path was to involve world travel working as a Flight Attendant with Pan Am. After seeing the world she left Pan Am to start her family in Northern Virginia.
Never one to rest for long, Bonnie went back to school, earning another degree in Horticultural management. She became an Arborist in Northern Virginia where she worked for many years, both with her own company, Hortservices, and The Care of Trees, Inc.
Her many interests included travel, music, bird watching, trees, and growing plants for both culinary and medicinal use. Bonnie added gourmet cooking to her list of passions and became a Plant Based chef, experimenting with her farm to table meals. She created many of her own ingredients and loved cooking with fresh foods from her local CSA.
Her greatest passion, however, was her family. She was able to see her two children and two-step children grow to be skilled and happy young adults. She never once failed to encourage them to follow their dreams, explore their interests and to see life as positive and exciting!
Bonnie leaves behind an enormous group of family, friends and co-workers. With her huge heart and sweet smile, Bonnie made an impact on everyone she met…everyone seemed to love Bonnie, AKA, Mrs. Wonderful!
Because her life’s work was caring for the trees on the earth, Bonnie would love it if instead of flowers, her friends and family planted a tree in her honor, (Bonnies very favorite tree was a white oak). She has always worked personally and professionally towards the growing of a greener earth.
Please go to alivingtribute.org to plant a tree for Bonnie.
Bonnies loving family includes husband Peter Deahl, children Timothy and Joseph Gonzalez of Sterling , Va. Lauren and David Deahl of Philadelphia, PA and Haymarket, VA, Parents Basil “Mac” and Jan McCallister and sister Terri McCallister of Austin, TX, and many other friends and extended family.
We love her, and we miss her so much, but the Lord said that he had some trees in his garden that needed care, so he has called for his prize Arborist to be their caretaker.
A memorial service for Bonnie’s friends and family will be sometime in December or January.
