Lovettsville Garage Fire Spreads to Woods

An electrical failure is blamed in Wednesday’s garage fire that caused $135,000 at a home near Lovettsville, according to the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Just before 1 p.m. on Feb. 8, a 911 call reported an outside fire in the 12000 block of Beech Grove Lane. The initial caller reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the woods behind the garage. The first crews on the scene found fire coming from a large garage and spreading into the woods. Crews from Lucketts, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Philomont, Aldie, Purcellville, and Frederick County, MD, were called to assist. While working to extinguish the fire, they also sought to protect the nearby home from damage by heat or flames.

There were no residents home at the time of the incident. Firefighters rescued the two goats—Gunther and Bo—from their pen near the garage.
