All Ages Read Together Kicks Off Month-Long Read-A-Thon

Loudoun County leaders took part in an event Tuesday that kicked off All Ages Read Together’s month-long Read-A-Thon.

County Chairwoman Phyllis J. Randall (D-At Large), Supervisor Koran Saines (D-Sterling) and Loudoun County Public Library Director Chang Liu joined Karen Schaufeld, author of The Lollipop Tree, to share their favorite books with young readers at Cascades Library in Potomac Falls.

They also talked about the importance of reading and the value that the county’s libraries provide.

The reading event set into motion the nonprofit organization’s Read-A-Thon, which is designed to raise funds for AART, which is dedicated to preparing young children for success in kindergarten by cultivating an early love of reading and learning. AART has served hundreds of children in Loudoun and Fairfax counties since its inception in 2007.
