Bowlero Taking Over King Pinz Lease in Leesburg

One of the first retail anchors of the Village at Leesburg development has announced its departure, with a national franchise set to take its place.

It was announced Monday that King Pinz would be closing its doors after first opening in the mixed-use development in 2010. It, along with Wegmans, was one of the first anchors at the Village, and its concept creating a family-friendly entertainment and dining destination, with bowling its prime focus, was the brainchild of husband and wife team Gary and Diane Reedy. The almost 22,000-square-foot space is located across the street from Cobb Theatres.

Taking its place will be Bowlero, the newest brand from Bowlmor AMF, the largest owner and operator of bowling entertainment venues in the world, a press release states. Bowlero was set to take over the space this week, although there will be a temporary closure as some renovations are undertaken.

Diane Reedy said the finalized deal is “a business arrangement that made sense for everybody.”

“It was a good exit strategy for us and a great opportunity for them,” she said.

Reedy said she and her husband have not decided on their next steps, including whether they will reprise the King Pinz concept elsewhere. They are both retired and Diane Reedy noted that opening and running King Pinz quickly morphed from “a fun side job to quite a huge job,” and they are content for now to take some time off before deciding how to move forward. In its seven years in business, King Pinz racked up nominations and awards from local media, the Town of Leesburg, and the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.

“We have so enjoyed what we’ve done here. I think we very successfully accomplished the goal of bringing something special to Leesburg that could serve families, businesses, and just the citizens in general,” she said.

Diane Reedy said the couple was grateful to King Pinz’ faithful customers over the years.

“It’s been an honor to serve the community,” she said.
