The Loudoun Board of Supervisors has approved a new process for a tourism grant program to begin in fiscal year 2018. The program is designed to support local tourism initiatives and events that drive tourists to Loudoun County. Funding from the program is to be spent solely on tourism or qualifying tourism promotions consistent with state code and the Board’s Restricted Transient Occupancy Tax funding policy.
For next fiscal year, which begins July 1, the board has prioritized tourism-based funding opportunities that support, Agriculture-based businesses, such as those related to craft beverages, agri-tourism, lodging, artisans, and the equine industry; special events that attract a significant number of people from other jurisdictions and regions; or cultural or outdoor recreational opportunities that bring visitors to the county.
Supervisors are expected to allocate funding at a business meeting in June, based on staff recommendations.
Any organization interested in submitting a request for funds must complete the Restricted TOT Fund Tourism Grant Program application. The deadline to apply is April 28. Additional information about the process, as well as a link to the online application form, may be found at loudoun.gov/TourismGrant.
