Driver Faces Felony Charges After Failing to Dim Lights

A driver pulled over for improper use of high beams earned additional felony charges during an allegedly combative traffic stop last week.

After stopping the car around 9:45 p.m. May 4 near the Old Ox Road/Pacific Boulevard intersection, the deputy searched the vehicle and uncovered suspected narcotics. The driver, Carl N. Gravette, Jr., 31, of Manassas, was taken into custody but at one point pushed away from the deputy and fled. He was again taken into custody after a short foot chase, but he continued to resist by kicking and hitting the  deputy, according to the report.

Gravette was charged with assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest, and possession of cocaine. Also, a traffic summons was issued for failing to dim high beams.

Gravette was released on a $5,000 secured bond.
