Hamilton Scout Builds New Home for Old Glory

After five months of planning, fundraising and project supervision, the work of Boy Scout Dustin Loving paid off Monday when Hamilton leaders gathered for the first flag-raising ceremony at the town park.

Loving, an Eagle Scout candidate, coordinated with the Town Council to erect a flagpole at the entrance to the park and completed the work in time for a Memorial Day ceremony.

The nearly $1,900 project was supported by more than a dozen donors, including Tom Pappas Construction, which contributed the concrete work; Mike Wines, who handled the electrical work, and Home Depot, which provided sand.

The 17-year-old is a student at Loudoun Valley High School and at Monroe Technology Center where his is studying health and medical sciences at Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Cornwall Campus. He hopes to pursue a career in the medical lab.
