For those who still value time curled up with a good book—yes, and actual book—this is one of the most anticipated weekends.
Starting Friday morning, the Loudoun Library Foundation will take over Smart’s Mill Middle School in Leesburg and fill most of it horizontal surfaces with thousands of books.
It’s the 28th year for the Giant Used Book Sale. Money raised from the sale of the books—with prices ranging from a few quarters to a couple of dollars—is used to support programs at the Loudoun County Public Libraries, including its popular Summer Reading Program.
More than 100,000 books, DVDs, CDs, and games have been collected for the sale.
As a special incentive to visit the sale, each child through 8th grade who visits Friday and Saturday will receive a free book.
Sale hours will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. On Sunday, visitors can fill a bag of books for $10.
