Crash Landing Reported at Leesburg Airport

Federal authorities have been called to investigate the crash landing of a  plane at Leesburg Executive Airport this afternoon.

According to the Virginia State Police, the incident happened at 12:40 p.m. along Sycolin Road in south Leesburg.

Trooper E.J. Redwine reports that a  Piper PA-28R-201 was coming in for a landing when the pilot failed to put down the landing gear in time and made impact with the ground.

The pilot, Eric W. Burger of Great Falls, was not injured in the crash.

The FAA and NTSB were notified of the incident.
