Catoctin Elementary Girl Scouts Celebrate Walk to School Day

Catoctin Elementary School Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts and their parents and siblings participated in National Walk to School Day today, led by Catoctin troop leaders and Cadette Girl Scouts from J.L. Simpson and Smart’s Mill Middle Schools.

They were joined by Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk, Officer Tidmore  from the Leesburg Police, and Catoctin PE instructors Will Shepard and Jeremy Tipton to promote pedestrian safety, reducing pollution, physical fitness, and community spirit.

This is the fourth year that Catoctin Girl Scouts has participated in this event. Tara Holt is instrumental in putting this event together every year. There were about 40 students and parents in attendance. They walked from Fox Ridge Park to past Loudoun County High School to Catoctin Elementary School. Officer Tidmore talk to them about pedestrian safety.

Mayor Burk told the girls,  “The things they learn in the Girl Scouts they will use all their lives.”
