Democrats Report Fraudulent Phone Calls on Election Day

At least one Democratic family in Sterling has reported fraudulent calls telling them their polling place had changed.

Loudoun Voter Registrar Judy Brown said her office had received the complaint through the Loudoun County Democratic Party, but that they had not received any complaints directly from voters. The ACLU has reported similar activity in Prince William County, originating from numbers in Gloucester, VA, and Adairsville, GA.

A Facebook user in the Sterling Park Neighborhood Exchange group also wrote she and her husband had received two phone calls advising her that her polling place had been changed, coming from Gloucester. She has not yet responded to an emailed request for comment.

“I have heard that there’s been several cases of that,” said Loudoun County Democratic Committee Chairman Marty Martinez. “They’re also leaving voicemail messages on phone machines and stuff, so it has been happening to quite a few people in this area.”

Reached earlier today, the state democratic committee’s voter protection line is still gathering information about the calls and is expected to have more information.
