The Leesburg Police Department has a new four-legged member.
K-9 Brodey officially joins the ranks of the department now that he and his handler, Master Police Officer Robert Hall, have completed a six-week training course at Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, PA. The duo was trained in several disciplines including article searches, tracking, building searches, and narcotics detection. Brodey is considered a “dual purpose” K-9 since he is trained to be a traditional police dog and certified to detect narcotics.
Hall has been a department member since July 2002. During his time with the LPD, he has served as a member of the Special Operations Team, a School Resource Officer, and a lead instructor for police mounted bike patrol at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy.
