Purcellville Council Calls Emergency Closed Session for ‘Administrative Investigation’

The Purcellville Town Council met this morning in a hastily called closed session with three lawyers, including Loudoun’s commonwealth’s attorney.

The emergency meeting was announced at 7:43 p.m. Friday and began at 9 a.m.

The stated purpose of the meeting was “to consult with legal counsel employed or retained by the public body regarding an administrative investigation requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel.”

Town Attorney Sally Hankins; Patrice Claire, an outside attorney hired to guide the council through a series of human resources issues that included the recent firing of the town’s police chief; and Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman. Interim Town Manager Alex Venegas also attended the meeting.

The council met in closed session for three hours.

Following the closed session, the council adjourned without taking any formal action in open session.
