Leesburg Tennis Supervisor Charged with Embezzlement

A Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department supervisor has been fired, following an investigation that resulted in a felony embezzlement charge.

According to the Police Department, detectives were alerted Nov. 16 about a possible theft that was committed by an Ida Lee Park employee. As a result of that investigation, Michael Brian Ott of Harpers Ferry, WV, was arrested Nov. 21 and charged with embezzlement of more than $200.

The investigation is continuing.

Town Manager Kaj Dentler said Ott was placed on administrative leave without pay when the concern surfaced and was subsequently terminated based on the findings of the police investigation.

A preliminary hearing in Loudoun District Court is scheduled for Jan. 25.
