Pedestrian Killed by Suspected DUI Driver

A 66-year-old Aldie man was killed this morning after he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking along Loudoun County Parkway near Dulles West Boulevard, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened at 7:39 a.m. Sunday. The preliminary investigation indicates that Muhammad S. Khalid was walking southbound on Loudoun County Parkway when he was struck by a driver of a southbound vehicle. He died at the scene.

The driver remained on scene and a witness called 911.

Opoku Atuahene, 38, Manassas, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center pending a bond review.

Khalid was the 22nd person, and second pedestrian, killed on Loudoun roads during 2017.

    how could he have immediatley been charged with involuntary manslaughter? i thought you had to have months of investigation like the case in lansdowne…what gives sheriff chapman ?
