Primera Air, the Copenhagen-based, low-fare airline, will begin offering direct flights five times a week from Dulles Airport to London’s Stansted Airport beginning Aug. 22. Fares start at $199 one way.
Flights will be operated with new Airbus A321neo and A321LR aircraft.
“We’ve been planning to add Washington from the beginning of our trans-Atlantic flight project,” Primera’s president and owner Andri Már Ingólfsson said. “We see a strong demand for this route and we are the first low-cost airline to start operations between both cities, offering people an affordable way of transatlantic travel.”
He said the low fares are possible because of the latest technology by Airbus and Boeing. The company plans to begin operation of its first Airbus A321neo in April and also has ordered 20 new Boeing MAX9-ER aircraft.
Based in Denmark and Latvia, the airline is part of the Primera Travel Group, which includes travel agencies and tour operators in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Estonia. For more information, go to primeraair.com.
