Weather Alert: Leesburg Postpones Friday Trash Collection

With the forecast of high winds resulting from a building nor’easter, the Town of Leesburg has cancelled  trash and recycling collections in the northeast and northwest quadrants of Leesburg for Friday, March 2.

Residential customers should not put trash and recycling containers at the curb this evening. Trash and recycling instead will be collected on Saturday, March 3 in those areas.

Residents also are encouraged to  secure or bring inside any loose items, such as patio furniture and toys, to avoid damage.

According to the National Weather Service, winds of 25 to 40 miles per hour are expected starting late tonight and continuing through Friday. Gusts of 60-70 mph are likely.

Widespread power outages are possible because of downed trees and power lines.
