Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue Robert S. Wertz Jr. is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations seeking an exemption from Loudoun County real and/or personal property taxes for the 2019 tax year. The application deadline is April 2.
Most charitable nonprofit organizations are not automatically exempt from local property taxes in Virginia, even those that may be exempt from federal income taxes. It is necessary to first file an application with the Commissioner of the Revenue. Completed applications should be postmarked no later than April 2, for consideration this year. Any exemption, if granted, would be effective Jan. 1, 2019. Nonprofit organizations that have already been provided an exemption from Loudoun County property taxes need not file an application.
Any organization that is unsure about its tax status should contact the Exemptions and Deferrals Division of the Office at 703-737-8557 or at email@example.com for further information. Applications are available online at loudoun.gov/cor, under Quick Links.
