After five weeks with no vice mayor, the Town of Lovettsville has a new one.
The Lovettsville Town Council on Thursday night unanimously voted to appoint Jim McIntyre to the spot, following Tiffany Carder’s resignation on Feb. 17 after serving eight years on the dais. Once Councilman Nate Fontaine nominated McIntyre for the seat, no further nominations were made. Councilman Mike Senate was absent for the vote.
McIntyre, whose term is up in 2020, has been on the Town Council since 2012. He is also the chairman of the town’s Love Oktoberfest Subcommittee.
Carder stepped down from her seat last month to fulfill her duties as the assistant librarian at the Lovettsville Library. She is the second person this year to resign from a spot on the Town Council. In January, Rob Gentile vacated his seat in preparation for a move out of town. The Town Council appointed Mike Dunlap to fill that spot on Jan. 25, with a term ending June 30.
