A Sterling man was arrested and held without bond Monday night after a deputy witnessed him speeding at more than 100 miles per hour on Rt. 7.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy was running RADAR in the area of Loudoun County Parkway when Zunain Ovais, 19, passed by. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the driver fled, exiting on Gloucester Parkway and then attempting to turn onto Russell Branch Parkway. Ovais lost control, striking a vehicle stopped at the traffic signal. No injuries were reported.
Ovais was charged with felony eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and two counts of child endangerment. Juvenile passengers in his vehicle were released to the custody of a parent.
