Abbey Design Center Celebrates 30 Years

When Shiva Etessam opened the Abbey Design Center in 1989 she had one business philosophy in mind: “Give your customer quality products at a fair price and take care of them like a friend.”

More than 30,000 projects later, the remodeling company has built a reputation for stellar service and craftsmanship.

“We are so very thankful for our customers past and present as well as the Loudoun and Fairfax County communities,” Etessam said. “This year is a year of celebration for our company. We have several giveaways scheduled through the year to celebrate this important milestone. We want people to find comfort in the home they love. We love what we do and look forward to many continued years of business.”

In 1995, Shiva Etessam and her husband joined the Abbey franchise, which has since grown to more than 800 members across the country. Three years later, they saw a need in Northern Virginia for not just flooring but full-home remodeling and expanded the company to handle these larger projects.

“Remodeled homes sell more quickly and for a much higher value,” stated Fariba Hedges, Etessam’s sister and president of Abbey Operations. “We want to help homeowners in Northern Virginia increase the value of their homes. It is exciting to be a part of this process and actually help our customers create more value in what, for many, is their biggest lifetime investment.”
Through the years, the team has been honored with many awards, and Abbey’s commercial division won the 2017 Best Contractors of the Year Award in the DC metro area. This year it was awarded with the 2018 Houzz Service Award and multiple honors from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, including the Grand Award in Basement and Bath Remodeling, as well as the Merit Award in Bath Remodeling.

Abby has showrooms in Leesburg, at 21465 Price Cascades Plaza in Sterling and 161 Fort Evans Road in Leesburg. For more information, go to abbeydesigncenter.com.
