Just two weeks away from the May 1 town elections, both of Middleburg’s mayoral candidates have announced endorsements from elected representatives within the county and state governments.
Vincent Bataoel, four-year chairman of the town’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, was endorsed on Monday by County Chairwoman Phyllis Randall (D-At Large) and Del. Wendy Gooditis (D-10). His announcement comes two weeks after his opponent Councilman Bridge Littleton, an eighth-generation town resident, announced endorsements from Supervisor Tony Buffington (R-Blue Ridge) and Sen. Jill Vogel (R-27).
“The residents of Middleburg that I’ve got to know over my 10 years here are amazing people from all walks of life,” Bataoel said in a statement. “I’m committed to this position, and I’m ready to work with our Town Council and local elected officials to keep Middleburg the small town that we all love.”
This is Middleburg’s first contested mayoral race since 1992.
