EatLoCo continued the expansion of its farmers and artisans markets last week with the opening of its new indoor market in the Village at Leesburg.
The market, located at 1601 Village Market Blvd. across from Cobb Theater, is EatLoCo’s fourth weekly location and will be limited to products offered by area farmers, with no artisan or craft vendors. The market will sell certified organic beef, pork and poultry, non-GMO proteins, grass-fed beef, pasture raised pork, chicken and goat, lamb sausage, oils and vinegars, baked goods, Puerto Rican pastries, hot sauces, jams, jelly’s preserves, homemade chocolates and coffee
It will be open 3-7 p.m. on Thursdays, with the first hour limited to chefs and representatives of restaurants who can meet with farmers individually to plan future orders.
“We’re essentially bringing the restaurants and chefs to the farmers instead of the other way around,” said founder and CEO Dan Hines. “This will increase the farmers sales exponentially and allow them sell during the week, not just the weekend farmers markets.”
The location is temporary, as the company plans ultimately to move into the former Smokehouse Live location nearby that is being renovated by Chef Scape.
EatLoCo also operates weekly farmers and artisan markets at One Loudoun (Saturdays), Purcellville (Saturdays) and Brambleton (Sundays). A Sunday outdoor market at the Village at Leesburg is expected to begin June. 10.
